I love Fall!!

It is now officially Fall, my favorite season of the year! All year I dream of it being Fall. I love everything about it; how the air turns crisp, all the wonderful colors, Halloween, pumpkins, falling leaves, bales of hay, fixing homemade soup multiple nights a week..... I could go on for HOURS about how much I love this time of year. In anticipation of Fall, I decided to treat myself and the kids and start decorating the interior of our house for Halloween. I know Halloween 6 weeks away; definitely not very much time to get ready. We had a blast doing it! I promised my hubbs that I wouldn't decorate the outside of the house until October. So until then, we are really enjoying our indoor decorations!!

Getting there....

Many of you know that we've been in our house for 2 years now; and I'm sure all of you know that our yard STILL isn't done and what a sore spot it is for me. Finances have been really tight, but we've been trying to do a little at a time. A year ago, we started doing our rock work. That was a huge undertaking. We had tractors come in and place rocks for our wall in our back and front yard. We were SOOOO very excited to get that done. I still can't wait until I can plant some really pretty perennials in the cracks. It will look great when it's done!!

Our backyard is very small; like a sliver, but I actually kind of like it. It's very small but quaint. And even though it's small, I'm glad to have it because it's ours and we can do whatever we want to it with our own touches and styles in mind. Since July, we have been working on improving our deck, putting in a patio, and installing sprinklers. It's been a challenge working with such a small space, but it's been a lot of fun and we are just THRILLED to have some improvements being made. Our yard is getting done, slowly but surely. YAHOO!!

Best Buds

This was so cute; just a random moment where I happened to have my camera close by. Sadie and Ava hanging out on the front porch. I know we're not a perfect family by any means, but I know that my kids love each other and that brings me so much happiness! It's all in the little things.

The Junior High Jungle

Sadie started JR. High today. She was so excited; she has been counting down the days all summer. She worked really hard at babysitting all summer so she could buy herself some new clothes. She has talked about her future days in Jr. High...pretty much nonstop.

You remember those JR. High days....some were great, and some were quite rough. Whatever the case, I vowed I would never in a million years do it again...so how could I release my daughter into a world that I could never live in again??

Here are some pictures of me releasing Sadie into the Jr. High Jungle. She's a great kid; much more mature and aware of things than I was at her age. What an emotional experience for me, standing back and watching my daughter walk to her school. Standing WAY back because she didn't want me to get any closer to the school because she was so embarrassed of me taking a million pictures of her.

Every kid has to grow up, and I know Sadie will do well because she has the ability to surround herself with good friends and is very confident in herself. It's just weird for me because I feel like just yesterday she was in diapers, and now she's in Aeropostale jeans. Where has the time gone?

Double Whammy

Last week Adam came home from school and announced that he had a front tooth that was loose and ready to come out. He asked me if I could complete the deed and pull it out for him (the only one of my kids that will even let me come near their loose teeth). I promptly agreed and with a quick flick of my wrist it was out. Adam was so excited! Then I noticed that his other front tooth was loose, but not as loose as the first. Still on a high, I asked him if I could pull it out and promised that the tooth fairy would bring him enough money that he could guy a new Star Wars figure. He wasn't very enthused but let me. It was a lot harder to get out but it finally came out after I tugged and tugged on it; he was so brave and just let me pull on it, unlike his sisters. So Adam has 2 holes where his 2 front teeth used to be. Our favorite song around the house?????

"All I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth"!!!

A Perfect Day

With the kids back in school, Sadie, Ava and I have had a lot of time to spend together, just the three of us since Sadie doesn't start up until the end of August for Jr High (warning...mom freaking out....THAT will be another post for another day....). One day last week, we had a perfect day together. We decided to go downtown on a whim and hang around Temple Square and the JSMB. We had an absolute blast that day as we walked around the beautiful grounds and ate lunch at one of my favorite places...The Pantry (MMMM, Lion House Rolls are the BEST!!). Ava especially had a great time just getting to roam anywhere she wanted to without getting into any trouble. She squealed with delight the whole time until we forced her to get back into the stroller so we could return home. I showed Sadie and Ava where our wedding reception was in the Wasatch Room at the JSMB. I know it's hard to believe I would do something like this, but I snuck into the room and showed the kids around. Sadie thought that was really exciting. What a perfect day, which I will never forget!!
